Malpe:Unidentified group hi jacks 3 deep fishing boats near Sadashivagada sea;20 fishermen kidnapped
Malpe:March.23:A group of unidentified persons have looted 3 deep fishing boats left for fishing from Malpe port and kidnapped 20 fishermen. Rs.15 lakhs worth of fish was also looted from these boats according to the sources.
‘Rajalaxmi’,'Jagmohan’ and ‘Sarvesh’ deep fishing boats left for deep fishing from Malpe port 10 days ago. When they were fishing near Karwar-Sadashivagada 15 knotical miles distance on Friday morning,an identified group of people stopped and attacked the fishermen. The team hi jacked all the 3 boats and looted their fish worth lakhs of Rupees. The culprits even took the money from the pockets of the fishermen. The owners were notified about the incident by the fishermen but their mobile phones went switched off after sometime. The contact with them cannot be established after the incident, the boat owner said. The group must have kidnapped the fishermen and their families are worried about their fate. A complaint has been lodged to the Fishermen’s Association.
