Space shortage at Malpe harbour leads to rush hour

Malpe:June.6:Thursday evening has was a rush hour at the Malpe harbour for the 900 fishing boats who have returned from the day long fishing. The fishing ban starts from June 15 but these boats have stopped fishing and have come back 10 days early. This is not because of the rough sea but due to the less space for anchoring the boats at the harbour.

The work is under progress at the 3rd phase of the harbour at a cost of Rs.56 crores. 350 more boats will find space for anchoring once this project gets completed in 2014. But still there is a shortage of space for 550 boats for anchoring at the Malpe harbour. The local fishermen have demanded the construction of 4th phase which will ease the shortage of space at Malpe harbour.
