Mangalore:Girl friend murdered by her lover;culprit under police custody

Karkala:June.9:After playing the drama of love and then promising her to marry,a man killed his girl friend when she started forcing him to marry. The incident took place at Hosabettu village of Mangalore taluk. Culprit Prabhakar Shetty(32),a resident of Biravu village near Moodabidre was arrested by the police. The deceased is identified as Poornima Shetty(23),a resident of Ranjala village in Karkala taluk.

Poornima’s dead body was found on Saturday at Hosabettu village. The culprit buried the body after murdering her. Poornima went missing on June 3,when she left from her house saying that she is going to the Bank. The parents have lodged a missing complaint at Karkala Rural Police station. The incident came to light when the police started their search operation

Prabhakar Shetty is running an Arts company. He was doing the make up job for the artists at stage dramas. Poornima came in contact with him when he came to Ranjala village. Their affair continued from the past one year. He was refusing Poornima’s marriage proposals.

On June 3,when Poornima threatend him to lodge a police complaint,he stabbed her with a knife at her stomach. He sliced her neck when she started shouting. He kept the dead body till night,and with the help of his 3 friends,buried her body at Hosabettu.
